about Sari de la Motte

Sari de la Motte is the founder and CEO of Nonverbal Solutions. She began her career as an educational consultant when she was asked to work with new teaching staff at Norwalk High School in Norwalk, California. At the time she believed she would be helping new teachers with their presentation style and curriculum planning. She had no idea what she was in for. Her first week on the job found her struggling to help teachers because classroom management was such an issue that all other concerns took a back seat. It was then she realized that although there were many programs that dealt with curriculum and planning there were very few that really helped with classroom management.

Shortly afterwards Sari came in contact with Michael Grinder, the director of NLP in Education, and the developer of the ENVoY (Educational Nonverbal Yardsticks) program. She became a certified ENVoY trainer and coach and began conducting workshops that focused on nonverbal communication in the classroom. The response was phenomenal. Teachers reported an increased sense of control and reduction of stress. Word spread and administrators began to call. Soon afterwards Nonverbal Classroom was born.

Sari holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Pacific University and Master of Science in Teaching degree from Portland State University. She is a classically trained pianist and still teaches a few students. She has taught at all levels of education in a variety of environments from the elementary grades to the university classroom.

Sari is passionately committed to teacher development and believes effective classroom management is key in allowing teachers to do the job they were meant to do: teach.

Sari lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband Kevin, a cook for New Seasons, and her 12-year old dog, Shasta.
