The transition into seat work is often an arduous process as teachers give instructions verbally only to be asked, “what page?” “what book?” “when is it due?”. In this skill teachers prepare a visual representation of the instructions for the seat work portion of the lesson. Teachers read the Exit Directions and ask if there are any questions before releasing students into seat work. With visual instructions present, students are able to go on task faster and become independent of the teacher.

Sari de la Motte, who has been described as a “guru of the unspoken,” is the CEO and founder of Nonverbal Solutions, whose motto is Go Beyond Words.
“Sari really helped me get on track as far as proper presentation and how to get students to ‘go visual.’ This eliminated many of the classroom management issues I used to have and I do not miss having to repeat myself over and over.”
