Whenever possible we want to manage from influence instead of power. Management from influence includes being able to manage without eye contact, a minimum use of verbal (name only), use of nonverbal instructions (pointing, etc) and if possible from far away. An individual student was managed from influence in the OFF/Neutral/ON clip. Here a teacher manages a group of “off task” students using the Influence Approach.
